September 2024 marked the close of the first round of the Community Innovation Practitioner (CIP) Awards 2023-24. Over the last 12 months, the cohort of five CIPs from across the four nations of the UK have been embedded in collaborative, cross-sector, culture-led R&D to capture learning and outputs from new co-creation processes in devolved policy making contexts.
The diverse themes addressed in their research demonstrated the variety of challenges and opportunities faced by communities at a regional level, and the potential for the devolved powers of the regions they are located to catalyse innovation and growth through co-created, culture-led R&D. The CIP Awards underscore the AHRC’s ambition to tackle contemporary challenges and how research can affect change and value in tangible ways.
To celebrate the culmination of the year-long pilot, AHRC Creative Communities hosted a CIP Research Showcase webinar on 23 October 2024, platforming the CIPs, their research partners, and their collection of research outputs. Here you’ll find a series of short presentations from each of the CIPs, reflecting on the research they delivered with their partners, the impact of the CIP role, and their plans for the future.
The research from the Community Innovation Practitioner (CIP) Awards 2023-24 can be found on the Creative Communities website, including case studies, policy papers, and the Creative Communities podcast.
AHRC Creative Communities are delighted to launch a scale up of the Community Innovation Practitioner (CIP) Awards for 2025-26, doubling the number of opportunities for new CIPs. A call is open until 6th January 2025 for expressions of interest for up to 10 Community Innovation Practitioners with the commitment to have at least one award in each of the four nations of the UK.
The Creative Communities team will hold a webinar to discuss this funding opportunity and answer questions on 13 November 2024 at 11am (UK time). You can register for the webinar via Teams Events.
