Wales Policy Lab: Environment

The AHRC Creative Communities programme Wales Policy Lab took place in Cardiff, at the Norwegian Church in March 2024. The Lab brought together a diverse group of leaders from academia, the public, third and private sector, community leaders, creative practitioners and young people, to co-create new policy solution suggestions within the context of the devolved Welsh government, on the role of arts and culture in delivering better environmental outcomes.

Though creative facilitation, the Environment themed Policy Lab encouraged cross-sector discussion to harness opportunities and tackle challenges using culture as a lever to unlock the potential of devolution. More than Minutes have now produced an illustrated record of these opportunities and challenges, along with key issues, needs and potential solutions identified by participants, and discussion on how to embed communities in policy making and R&D to create a more inclusive innovation ecosystem, providing a creative visual of what was discussed in the room that day.

Across 2024, the AHRC Creative Communities team are hosting Policy Labs in each of the four nations of the UK, using co-creation methods in generating new policy solutions specific to the contexts of each nation, with potential to influence wider UK policy.
