CIP Biography:
Shirish Kulkarni is a journalist, researcher and community organiser – currently News Innovation Research Fellow at Media Cymru and Founder of Inclusive Journalism Cymru.
Across a 30 year career in journalism, he’s worked in every major broadcast newsroom in the UK, and at The Bureau of Investigative Journalism. He now works across a range of innovation, inclusion and arts projects, with a focus on new forms of storytelling, community engagement and responsible use of technology.
His research centres around better understanding and meeting the information needs of marginalised people and communities – all with the aim of shifting narratives and power to build more reflective and inclusive journalism systems.
Project Summary:
Newydion I Bawb (News for All) will bring together community, government, creative and broadcast partners to explore how we might use Blaenau Ffestiniog’s history of innovation and knowledge sharing to inspire new forms of collective storytelling and galvanise more inclusive, representative and effective journalism. The project is about reframing narratives to support social and community cohesion through connection, collaboration and care.
