Prof Katy Shaw at the Westminster Media Forum Policy Conference on Arts, Culture and Levelling Up

The Westminster Media Forum have hosted a unique policy conference dedicated to the role of arts and culture in levelling up regions and communities, with contributions from the Director of Creative Communities Prof Katy Shaw.

Held in London and with a hybrid online audience on 28 November 2022, this event focused on arts and culture in levelling up regions and communities with speakers and guests from across academia, third sector organisations, private sectors, policy group and communities.

Professor Christopher Smith, Executive Director of the AHRC, opened his talk at this exciting event by outlining the incredible benefits of the UK’s Creative Industries sector and the immense advantage that dedicated and concentrated R&D can deliver. He discussed a long history of AHRC funding for research on co-creation, community and creative partnership working with AHRC Creative Communities and Prof Katy Shaw highlighted as a key part of current the current efforts towards meaningful and impactful arts and humanities research in this area.
