At UKREiiF 2026 Prof Katy Shaw and colleagues from other AHRC major investments delivered a galvanising panel event ‘Placemaking for Impact: Culture, Heritage, and Creative Investment’.
Katy co-delivered this event with Prof Rebecca Madgin, Director of the AHRC Place-Based Research programme and Professor of Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow and Bernard Hay, Director Policy at the Creative Industries PEC, hosted by Newcastle University with the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
This panel highlighted insights from these three UKRI / AHRC-funded strategic investments and explored the potential of culture and creativity to centre people’s relationships with place. Using the creative industries as a lens, it examines innovative ways to demonstrate value and foster inclusive, sustainable growth across communities and local economies.
UKREiiF is an annual real estate conference that connects people, places, and businesses to accelerate and unlock sustainable, inclusive, and transformational investment. More information about this roundtable and the 2026 conference can be found online.
