Prof Katy Shaw, Director of Creative Communities at Northumbria University, visited Teesside University to deliver a keynote at a recent Adobe Education event.
Katy Shaw spoke about ‘Creative Communities: Digital Storytelling and Changemaking’ to an audience of private sector stakeholders, academic colleagues, third sector and community experts, as well as students from Teesside University. Katy’s keynote explored the immense value of the creative industries and digital literacy for cultural growth, pride in place and creative wellbeing in the UK, but especially in the north east, sharing information about the Creative Communities project and her wider research.
Thanks to @AdobeUK for inviting me to keynote your Creative Campus event! Brilliant to share some early learning from our @ahrcpress Creative Communities programme on the power of partnership working cross sector in education, research & society 💪🏻 🦸🏼♀️ @TeessideUni https://t.co/kAQ24b3Wmz

Teesside University is the first Adobe Creative Campus in Europe, a unique example of creatively minded crossover between private sector R&D, education, philanthropy and the creative industries. As hosts of MIMA (the Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art), Teesside was uniquely placed to hold these discussions around digital creativity, the civic mission of higher education, and community engagement.
