AHRC Creative Communities England Policy Sprint

The AHRC Creative Communities programme England Policy Sprint was hosted by the Department for Business and Trade with a cross-sector group of central government departments, at the Darlington Economic Campus.

The Sprint mobilised creative facilitation to encourage discussion, identify opportunities and tackle challenges using culture as a lever to unlock the potential of devolution in England.

The AHRC Creative Communities team shared policy proposals and recommendations from the North East Policy Lab. The Sprint considered specific North East policy contexts, including the need to build belonging and break down barriers in diverse communities, inequity of opportunity across regions and growth through culture and R&D. It also addressed key HM Treasury areas of research interest including:

  • Crowding in Private Finance
  • Driving Regional Growth
  • Barriers to Investment
  • Sectoral Strengths
  • Good Growth Areas

Findings from this event will inform policy recommendations in the England Devolution Policy Provocation Paper.
