The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is an Established Mayoral Strategic Authority.
The GMCA was established in 2011 and the first devolution deal was signed in 2014. In March 2023 the Trailblazer deeper devolution deal awarded a more significant funding settlement.
The current mayor, Andy Burnham, was first elected Mayor of Greater Manchester in May 2017, then for subsequent terms in May 2021 and May 2024. He works with the leaders of the ten Local Authority councils on devolved decision-making and funding.
