Dr Lauren Baker Mitchell presented AHRC Creative Communities programme findings as part of a panel of community research and co-creation specialists at the ‘Pushing Boundaries‘ conference hosted by the Young Foundation and UKRI at the British Library Knowledge Centre.
Lauren discussed the relationship between place-based working and community-driven R&D&I, place-based policymaking and innovation, and how the Community Innovation Practitioner Awards have sought to innovate new community-led research methods across the UK.
Discussions were chaired by Kersten England CBE (Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture) and also featured thoughts from Clair Griffiths (Xplore! Science Discovery Centre) and Prof Sarah Pearson, (Co-Director Centre for Collaboration in Community Connectedness).
Dr Rachel Connor joined the event to share practice and learning from the AHRC Creative Communities programme, ahead of the Community Innovation Practitioner 2025-26 Awards launching in autumn 2025.
