Insights North East Annual Conference 2025

Prof Katy Shaw, Director of the AHRC Creative Communities programme, shared developments and learning from the programme at the Insights North East Annual Conference 2025: Driving Regional Growth and Opportunity for All.

Katy shared recent learning from the AHRC Creative Communities programme’s research on culture, devolution and co-creation as levers for growth as part of the panel ‘Changing direction: sharing knowledge and expertise to forge a new path‘. The other panellists included:

• Professor Jonathan Kimmitt, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Durham University
• Professor Graham Thrower, Head of the Institute for Economic and Social Inclusion, University of Sunderland
• Chair: Dr Michael Glass, Associate Professor and Director, Urban Studies Program, University of Pittsburgh

Each year this conference brings together policymakers, academics, third sector experts and communities. This iteration of the conference has focused on drivers of growth that have been affecting outcomes in the North East and consider future opportunities.
