EconFest 2025: Creative Entrepreneurs panel at Darlington Economic Campus

Prof Katy Shaw, Director AHRC Creative Communities, chaired a discussion presented programme learning at EconFest, hosted by a collaborative cross-UK government team at the Darlington Economic Campus. The 2025 symposium focused on Growth, drawing on learning from previous events and policy innovations.

EconFest is a unique, week-long annual gathering that brings together officials from nine UK government departments, senior analysts and economists, researchers and experts from all sectors. The event draws on the Darlington Economic Campus’s commitment to breaking down silos and introducing a culture of cross-sector and cross-department working while also convening a breadth of expertise around common aims.

Katy chaired a panel of creative and cultural entrepreneurs who discussed their experience of collaborative working, co-creation and policy engagement:

  • Brendon Haywood, Chair of Entrepreneurs Forum and CEO of Osbit
  • Tracey Watson – CEO, Tees Global
  • Dr Jonathan Kimmitt, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Durham University
  • Chloe Clover – CEO, Wander Films
  • Rob Hankin – Co-founder, Joint Effort
