Culture Connect is the first Open Access Data Observatory for Devolved Culture Informatics. It offers advanced visualisations of national & regional culture data to better inform devolved policymaking, public awareness and strategic plans for growth.
The DO was initially developed by the AHRC Creative Communities programme, the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The DO framework was developed by TPXimpact and Open Innovations.
The North East MSA’s Culture, Creative Industries, Heritage and Sport Strategic Framework 2026-2036 (October 2026) sets out a vision to make the North East one of Europe’s leading regions for culture, creativity, heritage and sport. Culture Connect will play a pivotal role in strengthening the regional evidence base and research ecosystem and ensuring NEMSA investment decisions are informed by robust data, research and evaluation.
